Architect lodges Byron Quarter plans

by James Wood Mon 13 March 2017, 10:08 am

Public consultations are being held on design plans for the Byron Quarter development in Harrow, ahead of a planning application being submitted for the mixed-use scheme in the summer.

The design team presented ideas for the project at Harrow Leisure Centre on 9 and 11 February, inviting passers-by to view maps and drawings of the project.

Plans by architect Karakusevic Carson include mixed-tenure housing, sport and leisure facilities and improved public realm for workspace and community events.

The architect’s initial focus is on indoor and outdoor leisure amenities, the public realm and “masterplan principles”. Full plans will be revealed at the next public consultation event in May, followed by a final session in the summer.

Planning applications for phase one and outline proposals for later stages will then be submitted to Harrow Council for approval. If permission is granted, phase one of the scheme will include 200 build-to-rent units.
